This was such a fun, quick read. The first part of the novel was so funny and entertaining, as we got a glimpse of Harrison's internal monologue. He desperately tries to resist his feelings for Hannah, his best friend's little sister. He has spent his life protecting her, but can he protect her from his lustful thoughts and does she want to be protected? This book has made me want to read more by this author.
I love Jodi, she's a fav author for me & she didn't disappoint with The Boss, my only complaint is a selfish one I'd have loved more like a whole novel.
Hannah and Harrison are great together, the chemistry is off the charts hot! It sucked when Ethan (Hannahs brother & Harrys BF) behaved so badly but I'm glad it got sorted out & quickly. This is a fun, hot and short read but it packs a punch that's for sure!
I read the shorter version of this when it was part of an anthology and I couldn't wait to read it again as the extended version to find out what happened with Harrison and Hanna. I loved it. I refused to get out of bed until I'd finished it. It was sexy, sweet and Harrison, oh Harrison stole my heart. He's come from such a sad childhood and never really felt loved. There were times when I just wanted to hug the man. I loved Hanna's strength. She stood up to her over protective brother. Overall, a great story. LOVED it.
Harrison is wonderful but he's never felt loved or had anyone say those words to him....until Hanna. She has loved him for as long as she can remember but the problem is he's her brother's best friend. They try hiding their relationship for a while but Ethan finds out and everything explodes, including the life long friendship. Harrison is devastated by losing both of them and it's so heartbreaking but I still kept reading because I was sucked in and had to know what happens.
I can't give it all away but you won't be disappointed in this book. I loved it!!
I really enjoyed this short read - normally I prefer novellas to be about characters that already have a previous book so the novella is a further extension of their story, but JL Perry has written a novella that is a great read as a standalone, and I did not get to the end and feel like I needed more story ( although I would happily read more if there was ever more written!! ).
I loved watching Harrison and Hanna come together, even though they faced some emotional times during the process. Ethan was really not my favourite person, but I was so happy when it all fell into place. Although this book was quite emotional at times, it was also funny in places and made me smile. Harrison is quite the character.
Hanna and Harry's love story is your typical forbidden best friend sister story. Harry has been in lust with his best friend sister ever since he turned 17 and seeing her for the first time as a woman he was physically attracted to. It's been tough to keep his attraction to her in check until he's out of a secretary and Hanna comes to his rescue by volunteering to be his secretary temporarily while he looks for another replacement. This latest move is going to be the straw that broke the camels back, Harry will not be able to withstand the attraction especially when he finds out its not one sided. This was a good read, with the drama, angst and the love between the characters of this story, it's bound to keep the reader interested and engaged.
Caution you'll need clean panties and a cold shower!
J L Perry has shown she can write a panty melting Novella that leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy.
From the first page of The boss, I needed to know more about Harrison (Harry), something about him intrigued me and he didn't disappoint. As the book went on I felt I could really connect with Harry and his childhood. I wanted him to have his happy ever after with Hanna and to realise he is loveable.
Hanna is an amazing, strong and selfless heroine who you really just want to be best friends with!
I absolutely loved Michelle ( Hanna's sister in law and Harry's best friend's wife).
Jodi is one of those rare authors who not only make you fall in love with the main characters but also the secondary characters.
I'll be honest I've been nerves about reading The Boss because most Novella's leave me feeling like I never really got to know everything about the characters and like their stories just weren't finished but at the end of The Boss I felt like the story was complete and perfect. I absolutely adored this book!
