"As told by a deep undercover investigator, this is a gripping story of challenges, frustrations, anger and redemption." -Jonathan Z. Friedman Second Deputy District Attorney (Ret.), Chief, Investigation Division, Westchester County, New York "Rarely do you see a true 'first person' account of life as an undercover Detective told so openly and honest. Written in the detective's voice, this book takes you behind the scenes of a major case investigation revealing the dangerous choices made and the personal sacrifices needed!" -Sal Lifrieri, Detective 1st Grade, NYPD (retired), Director of Security and Intelligence Operations-NYC OEM (retired) "Suspenseful! Intriguing! Miranda Writes/Honor and Justice is a must read book. It's a true insight into the physical and emotional world of an undercover cop risking everything that he holds dear in life for family honor." -Richard Santorsola, Special Investigator (Retired law enforcement officer), New York State Organized Crime Task Force After working for a number of years in patrol with the City of White Plains, New York Police Department, I was promoted to detective and assigned to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office Organized Crime Squad. It seemed that I had an affinity for undercover work and soon found myself working deep cover. I had successfully infiltrated the Lucchese crime family, gathering evidence in an international heroin-smuggling case. I had infiltrated a crew that smuggled large quantities of pure heroin from the Middle East into the New York metropolitan area. I soon found myself making choices that were uncomfortable, and struggling inwardly to hold on to the values that I'd been taught. The following story is fact-based fiction. It's my version, true to my recollection, of events that occurred while I was assigned to work with a federal informant, Mike Baraka, who claimed that he was falsely arrested, indicted, and convicted for a crime he didn't commit. It's a story about family honor, a tabooed friendship, and a surgical look into the very essence of the criminal justice system.

This little book is worth the price of admission. It has something for everyone: a deep cover cop working to infiltrate the mob (which actually destroys the cop's family life), organized crime personality's, families and exploits, the dysfunctional West Chester police force the cop works for, and a rather frisky relationship with a knock-out gorgeous (and very level headed) Columbia PHD Geology student/ part time stripper. Just about everything you might be looking for in a spunky beach read. Chapter 19 is a whopper.Product details

Miranda Writes Honor Justice Frank Santorsola Jeffrey W Wood 9781596879720 Books Reviews
"Miranda Writes" gives the reader an insight into the the life of an undercover police officer. It is an easy and fast read. There is more action in this book than one finds in other police novels. One rarely has an opportunity to study the life of an undercover police officer as closely as we watch Frank Miranda operating on the streets of New York.
This book was genuine and real. It was well written and totally brought to life the characters. It provided a real view of the dangers of undercover police work. The undercover officer is under rated, under praised and underpaid for the dangers they face everyday. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to get an insight to the risks of police work. I look forward to future episodes...
Miranda Writes, Honor & Justice is a great read that gives you a firsthand look into the life of undercover investigators. A 'must read' for anyone in the business but an extremely entertaining read for everyone.
This is a great book about the life of an undercover cop. The stories are both suspenseful and funny at the same time. A very"New York" kind of book. Very enjoyable
As a retired Police Officer (Captain) I found that once I started reading it was impossible for me to put down. It was as if Frank was sitting in my office personally telling me about his experiences while working undercover. I highly recommend Miranda Writes to anyone who wants a front row seat on the workings of an undercover cop and his commitment to doing the job while not compromising his values of honesty, integrity, and justice. Eagerly waiting for the next installment.
Outstanding, fast-moving story of a heroic and honorable cop. It's complex and interesting enough that it almost feels like The Sopranos as told by the real good guy. In fact, it's so compelling that I'm surprised that this hasn't become a movie or a TV series. When is the next Miranda Writes coming? Can I pre-order it?
This man has obviously paid a huge personal price for "protecting and serving" the rest of us. My hope is that his daughters read this and get a sense for what they're missing by not knowing their dad.
Miranda Writes is not just about an undercover policeman doing a job...it's more. At it's core it's a story of commitment, honesty, integrity, loss, the search for redemption and so much more. The characters, especially Frankie Miranda/Frank Santorsola while living with a deep sense of honesty and justice, is also forced to see the devil in others but mostly the one that resides within himself. There is no shortage of bad guys. Whether those are the thugs that live on the streets, outside the law, or those living within the law and even those sworn to uphold it (fortunately not many of those) their personal journeys cross hatch with each other. It's also a story about one man (Santorsola) trying to rise above the emotional pull of the demons to find self fulfillment and inner peace and redemption for the demons that grip his throat. Not lost in the naritive is that Santorsola and others of his profession risk their lives to try and protect the average citizen and in the process keep their souls intact. After reading Miranda Writes one questions if the later can be achieved for Santorsola. For anyone who wants to read a gritty, harrowing, true to life account of one police officer's quest to do the impossible I highly recommend reading Miranda Writes.
